Where to Find a Job as an Associate Dentist

When young dentists first enter the job market they have a lot of questions that they need answered, and one of the most important is how to find a their first job. In this article we are going to explore some of the best places dentists can start their search for a good associateship.

Where Are Jobs Posted for Dentists?

There are many websites that include job opportunities for dentists – some of them are well-known platforms and some of them are niche websites built exclusively for our profession.

Indeed.com

Indeed is the most well-known job engine and is a good first place to start your search.

What young dentists should know is that Indeed’s pricing structure does not cater to small businesses so most of the opportunities for dentists found on Indeed will be published by larger organizations like community health clinics, group practices, and dental service organizations (DSOs).

Dental Town

While Dental Town may not be as popular as it was twenty years ago, dentists still post and search their classified ads. You can even create your own classified ad on their platform as a dentist in search of a job. When I graduated in 2015, I created an ad for myself and a handful of inquiries that turned into interviews.

Local Dental Societies

Most local dental societies have a simple job board on their website. These boards tend to be very small, but they are hyper-focused (often at the county level in large states). Since these classified ads are posted by members of the dental society, they usually only include opportunities created by local private practices. So, if you are looking for opportunities in private offices, the local chapter of your state dental association is a good place to start. Most state and local components of the American Dental Association discount their annual membership dues to new dentists.

Dental Post

Dental Post is a website like Indeed that is exclusive to our profession. There, you can find opportunities across the country.

Dentist Job Connect

Dentist Job Connect is a website built just for dentistry by the same team behind Dental Nachos which is a community of more than fifty-five thousand dental professionals primarily spread across the United States.

While Dentist Job Connect is the newest website on this list, they have quickly grown to a reputable search engine for associates.

Dentist Job Connect goes one step further and provides personalized headhunting services for practice owners searching for a great dentist to join their practice as an associate or partner.

Bonus: Posting Your Resume on Dentist Job Connect is Free

Dentists who are seeking positions on Dentist Job Connect can create a free profile and upload their resume to the platform. These profiles are added to a database that employers can filter and search through in a way that’s more targeted and professional than creating a simple classified ad for yourself on Dental Town or a local dental society.
